Undergraduate Opportunities

Overview

The BHSL provides undergraduates with experience working in academic research and with clinical populations. Undergraduates will be paired with a mentor each semester, typically a doctoral student or postdoctoral fellow. Under their mentorship, students will work with a variety of research measures including cognitive testing, EEG, psychophysics and binaural hearing tasks. Furthermore, students may have the opportunity to co-produce poster presentations for symposiums with their mentor.

Undergraduate Candidacy

Typically, we will review lab openings every semester and summer break.

The Binaural Hearing and Speech Lab is an excellent fit for students who are interested in research or clinical work, and may pursue a graduate degree (M.S., M.D., Ph.D., Au.D., etc.). The BHSL accepts dedicated undergraduate candidates with an expressed interest in audiology, communication sciences and disorders, neuroscience, or related fields. Our undergraduates typically maintain a GPA of 3.50 our higher and are available to work at least 6 hours a week, with at least 1 weekend a month available for participant testing.
